The first serious vulnerability in WhatsApp

2019 was one of the worst years of WhatsApp in terms of security. Some of the weaknesses were so serious, that even Saudi Arabia penetrated Jeff Bezos by using one of these security holes to reveal an affair outside his marriage. Facebook confirmed the first major security vulnerability in 2020 that allowed stealing files from your computer.

This vulnerability, symbolized by CVE-2019-18426, was discovered by a PerimeterX researcher named Gal Weizman, and it particularly affected WhatsApp Web.
Security researcher Gal Weizman has found a loophole in WhatsApp content security policy, which can be used to send messages and links that are processed using site scripting (XSS). The victim was able to take advantage of these flaws to send malicious code or read files from the file system on the victim's computer.
This means that with the WhatsApp app, anyone can access the files on our computer.
The solution now is to update both the WhatsApp mobile version and the browser version, as the problem details are well explained at perimeterx.com and anyone can benefit from finding confidential information on computers all over the world.
