Rapidly updated a serious vulnerability in Firefox

The Mozilla Foundation has launched a new version of its Firefox web browser, fixing a vulnerability that has been actively exploited, and allowing attackers to take control of victims' computers.

Mozilla has fixed the vulnerability - indexed as CVE-2019-17026 - in Firefox 72.0.1, which launched on Tuesday. The fix came just one day after the release of version 72, which also repaired 11 other vulnerabilities, 6 of which were classified as high-risk, as 3 of those six vulnerabilities allowed attackers to run malicious code on infected computers.

The launch of the CVE-2019-17026 vulnerability comes about 7 months after Mozilla fixed two vulnerabilities exploited by the attackers in an attempt to install undiscovered back doors on Mac computers that were used by the Coinbase cipher.

Firefox users are advised to download version 72.0.1 as soon as possible.
