Netflix and YouTube applications decide to reduce the quality of video clips in Europe during the Corona crisis

Reuters newspaper reported that Netflix and YouTube have decided to reduce the quality of videos in their platforms to reduce the heavy pressure on the Internet, as YouTube said in a statement published that it is committed to temporarily reducing the quality of videos in the European Union.

Most European countries have taken measures to slow the spread of the Corona virus, including requiring employees to work from home and converting schools to electronic classes for distance learning, which has led to increased traffic on the Internet and thus pressure on the network. As such, the European Union has asked broadcasters to reduce video quality in order to keep the Internet running smoothly during our crisis.

Netflix said it would be committed over the next 30 days to reduce its consumption of Internet traffic by 25% by reducing the quality of movies and TV programs on its platform. Meanwhile, France has asked Disney to postpone the launch of Disney + to reduce infrastructure loads, as children in homes may be overly watching the content and thus increasing internet traffic.
