Taiwanese tech giant Asus has officially unveiled its latest flagship gaming smartphone ROG Phone 5S in Taiwan.
The ROG Phone 5s comes along with the ROG Phone 5s Pro, and both stand out as the best gaming smartphones to date.
Not only is the screen a FHD AMOLED with support for a refresh rate of 144Hz, but the Pro version includes the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset with up to 18GB of RAM.
The new smartphones are the successor to the ROG Phone 5 that was launched just months ago.
Both models retain Samsung's 6.78-inch E4 AMOLED HDR display with a resolution of 2448 x 1080 pixels with a 144Hz refresh rate.
Smartphone screens support up to 300Hz touch sampling rate and 1 millisecond latency.
The company provides up to 18 GB of RAM via the ROG Phone 5s Pro and there is up to 512 GB of storage.
In terms of design, ROG Phone 5s features the same design as ROG Phone 5, which bears the RGB illuminated ROG logo.
On the other hand, ROG Phone 5s Pro adopts ROG Vision Color PMOLED display. The ROG logo on the back has RGB backlighting. The screen on both models is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
There is a 64-megapixel rear lens with a Sony IMX686 sensor, 0.8 μm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, paired with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens with f/2.4 aperture and a 125-degree field of view, and a 5-megapixel macro sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
There is a 24-megapixel front camera with a size of 0.9 µm and an f/2.0 lens.
ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro run Android 11 with the ROG user interface.
The phone features dual SIM support, dual front symmetrical speakers with Dirac HD audio and GameFX. And a subwoofer with Cirrus Logic subwoofer for louder, deeper, and less distortion sound effect.
It also comes with quad microphones with OZO noise reduction technology. There is also a 3.5mm headphone port for those who want to connect a wired gaming headset.
On top of that, the phone uses a fingerprint sensor built into the bottom of the screen, AirTrigger 5 ultrasonic sensors, and grip pressure detection.
It also comes with support for Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and NFC. Both phones include a 6000 mAh battery with 65W HyperCharge fast charging via a USB Type-C port.
The ROG Phone 5s 16GB + 256GB version starts at $1,075. While the 18GB + 512GB version costs $1220. It comes in Phantom Black and Aurora White colours.
On the other hand, ROG Phone 5s Pro retails at $1,365 for the 18GB + 512GB version. It is available in Phantom Black. The device also has AeroActive Cooler 5 in the box.
